Mid-summer?

I was going to see what AI could generate for this post, but, much as expected, it proved incapable even when given a title. So this is "real".

Actually, there is an ad which keeps coming up on Youtube, where a bloke (looking very much like Dave from Mijas) tells me that I can create my own book and have it publsihed. All I need to do is select a title, select some ideas I like - then it will generate a story and images which I can edit prior to publishing. Traalaa - my own book - only it isn´t as it is crap proposed and curated by some algorhythm. Authorship it ain´t - and if that is as good as AI gets, God help us.

The thing that does seem to be quite neat is Quantum Computing though. It is basically AI with a mainframe attached, but the device being utilised against vast arrays of available data (past and present) comes up with some interesting possibilities. The theme tends to be "spotting fine patterns not obvious to a human review", which is tech-speak for "it comes up with weird possible scenarios that no sane person would dream of suggesting". So basically it a very expensive dream-machine.

They claim they had to switch it off as it was going "into realms that were thought potentially dangerous" (?parallel universes), but maybe it has the sense to put out enough garbage to ensure it gets "switched off" and is able to take a long nap.

All this preamble is really to avoid having to talk about the weather. The estate agent told us we needed to experience a winter before we decided to live here - but what she didn´t understand was that winter is acceptable as winter, but summer should at least have some sun. May was basically springlike and sunny, but since then (and since the start of TT) the weather has been at best "unpredictable". A euphemism for "mainly crap". As previously reported, if you wait around for 15 minutes here, the weather will likely change - that is unless it is alraedy raining, when the change will be to drizzle or heavier rain. I dont know if I reported thatthe current gardener used the same "kiss of death" statement as the one last year, with "maybe you should think about watering the lawn as things are very dry." Last year I bought a hose I never used. This year I bought and extension to the hose that will reaach the front garden - and used it once.

Maybe he should suggest digging some additional drains to take away the water, then we might have a drought.

.... and I was going to upload an AI generated image here, but they were all such abject crap (strangely semi-naked women provided by a search on "mid-summer?") that I despaired and went for a blank screen. Maybe I should have saved the one with two naked lower legs on a sunbed (no, no other body parts, not even feet). Don´t worry about AI taking your job!!!
